First lesson

First day of school and I'm nearly late! There seems to be some faults with the train. Though there is an announcement over the PA system repeatedly BUT it is in Norwegian so we don't understand at all. Luckily we managed to reach school just in time. My friends having lesson in the morning were not so lucky and they were late for around 1 hour!! Luckily they met a person from China who is teaching here and thus able to understand Norwegian and also to communicate with them and thus they followed her to take a bus.

Later on Winnie told me that there are some problems with the electricity and thus the train delay. I think we should go figure out alternative routes to get to school soon. I heard it is possible to walk to school from a train station a few stops away from Kringsja. And there is also a bus to the campus.

Ok enough of the train. First day of school and finally I felt like I'm in a western country. Saw alot more ang mohs and less blacks. People dress really well in school and we just felt like shit..so out. We're wearing what we wore to school back in ntu..but obviously in shoes, jeans and jacket. There isn't really a sandals/slipper culture here. They do alot of layering with their clothes and they are tall!~ Since the people are way taller than us... we felt rather like dwarfs when trying to wriggle our way through the crowd. For once I felt that the school is not so big when I was greeted by a huge crowd of students crowding around the reception and study area.

My lecturer for my elective is quite ok..except for his accent. You can catch some words and you can't catch some. Oh well... hope it gets better when time pass. There are no Norwegians in my elective class at all coz its about Scandinavian Work Life, so it consists of only exchange students. Majority of the class are from Singapore (that's us), China (also us), Canada, Mexico, Germany and a few odd ones like Poland, London, Austria. There is this girl from France who looks and sounds like she is very pissed and ready to fight. Weird. For our term paper, we had to do a comparative study on anything related to culture and of course it is comparing Singapore & Norway or Aisan & Scandinavian culture.
