By far I consider this one of my best semester so far in my university life and maybe student life. For once I'm a student, purely a student. I do not have any events, meetings or whatsoever to attend. I am a student. Period. My only concerns are to get to lectures, settle my meals, blog and watch drama. Life eh. I have always been as busy as a erm bumble bee? ever since pri school, pri 4 I think. Initially I wasn't quite used to this easy peasy and lots of free time kind of student life. But I'm not complaining.
This is also a good semester as the modules are really interesting. Not sure if its because I'm now in year 3 and is able to understand things a little better or maybe it is because the modules are starting to get more industry related. I don't forsee I'll ever use the Math and Sci modules that tortured me to no end in my first 2 years. And I think there are 2 more such disgusting modules next sems, Maritime Science 2 and Spatial Information Science (faint). This semseter's modules are quite inter-linked, so much so that sometimes I'll forget that I'm in this class and not that. Oragnization of Ship-Owning Entity and Maritime Insurance both involves certain aspects of Maritime Law. And so it seems as though we're taking law class every lecture. But then the readings for this sems certainly seems like quite a fair bit. Of which 2 is a must to read, the Norwegian Maritime Code (for law) and Norwegian Plan (for insurance), as they are used in exams. Next week will be week 4... guess it is time to slowly read abit here and there from next week onwards. I'll try.. yes I will. =p
My lecturers for this sems are quite interesting and all have different styles of teachings. My lecturer for Organization of Ship Owning Entity is a Singaporean who has lived in Norway for more than 15 years. He is a lawyer and can see that he loves his son. He always beams whenever he talks about his son. He will use stories (usually revolves around his son) to be the opening act of whatever he wants to explain. He is in fact quite thin...his suit is always so loose...he is almost lost behind it. lol.
Maritime Law and Marine Insurance is also by another lawyer turned lecturer. She is very petite but also interesting. She is the in-charge for every batch of exchange students from my course. She will be hosting a party at her house on the last day of exams. She told us on the first day and wants us to look forward to it. haha. And she will bringing us on company visits. Excited!!
I have a love-hate r/s with the Ship Accounting lecturer. He is funny but he often drive us crazy with his scribbly handwritting (he always mumbles that it is not so bad. lol) and also his mumblings. He quite like to mumble and with his accent, sometimes it can get quite nerve-wrecking. But his examples are always so 'out of the box'. Like his 'shit hits the fan', 'pee in the pants' analogy. Totally no link..-_-" He is only teaching the first 4 lectures, refreshing our basics. There will be another lecturer for the rest of the module..hope he will be better.
