Picnic by the Royal Palace

Last weekend was a picnic at the Sculpture Park. And so yesterday we decided to have our picnic by the Royal Palace in Oslo. The weather was nowhere near fantastic. Not only was the sun hidden behind the clouds, the clouds are actually grey! In fact it started to drizzle not long after we reached the palace ground. Luckily for us the rain here seldom are heavy downpours. The smarty-pants us actually did not bring any map and just went out with our sanwiches. And the even smarter me went out in sandals. My feet were nearly frozen! And my right eye had been twitching these few days... no, it is not twitching on the eyelid but rather on my eyebag area. My friends told me that twitching on the right eye is a bad omen, no matter where the twitch is. -_-" And bad omen indeed.

This is the road leading up to the Royal Palace.

And what is a palace without a guard? The guards there are not fun as they kept turning their head to look around, speak into their walkie-talkie and they can even ask the people who wants to take a photo with them to stand on their left instead of the right. The only funny thing about them is the "ponytail" attached to their head-gear. It is damn hilarious when the wind blows and 'piak' it stays on their face. LOL.

The Royal Palace. The flag is flying and Pooh says the king is home!

The balcony where the royal family will stand and wave to the public during special occassions.
Then it started to drizzle and we seek shelter by the pond behind the palace. We sat on one of the benches under a tree and oh my..the trees are good. We totally did not get wet at all. And so we ate our sandwiches there..6 slices in total! All thanks to Orange and Momo for 'feeding us so well'. We had eye-mayo with tomatoes and lettuce, tuna with lettuce, ham with cheese and lettuce. And there were lots of birds and ducks there so we fed them with the crust of our bread. It was so funny watching them fight for the bread crumbs. They are fierce but very smart too. They know how to differentiate what are edible and what are not. Throw them bread and lettuce and they eat..but when I threw a small corner of a tissue they did not even look at it. How smart!
Just as we are leaving the palace ground we saw these....
Fire Engines! Lots of them. All heading towards the palace. No fire though.

Another one. This vehicle is called Willy. Or is it the driver? *shrugs*

And this is Brian.

And this, is the place where my bad omen came true. This is the campus ground of the University of Oslo. It is situated near the royal palace. That area is quite like our cityhall/raffles places. This uni has such european feel, very contrasting from BI where it is modern, high-tech and all. We went in and there was a talk going on about 'Terrorism and its evil'. There are more buildings behind but we did not go further than this main block.

When we are coming out, I slipped on the flight of stairs (behind the 4 big columns) and landed on my butt and hit my right hand hard on the ground. I did not know how it happen, it happened all too fast. I remember feeling the slip on my right foot and the next thing I know I was on my butt and my right hand hurts like mad. I was utterly shocked! I sat there for a few seconds and I think Pooh Bear and gang are shocked by me as well. It doesn't help that the weather is so cold and my hand is already feeling the pain and now the added pain. The most embarrassing thing is that one old uncle who upon seeing that slipped, quickly came over and wanted to help me stand up. I was so embarrassed coz he looks so old and fragile and needs people to hold him more than I need him to help me. I quickly stood up, thank him and left. My fingers were swollen for quite a while. -_-"

Yea, the klutz me is still alive.
