Brussels Trip

Brussels is our last stop for the term break. It is the capital of Belgium and is more my kind of place with tall buildings, good food at relatively reasonable prices. Oslo is also a capital but it is more of a sleepy town with sky-high living standards that makes dinning out in a restaurant an impossible feat. I'm extremly happy to have visited Brussels. =)

The weather condition when we landed. The fog was so bad that we had to circle in the air for approx 1 hour before landing. And while landing we can't see the runway at all. Luckily the pilot for this ryan air flight is skilled and everyone heaved a sigh of relief and clapped when we landed safely.

The taxi that brought us from Chaleroi Airport to Liege Train station for 30 euros as it would take us 2 hours by bus and according to the airport staff it is rather confusing. Chaleroi Airport is mainly for budget airlines and is located in another town, obviously.

Brussel North Train Station. 10 minute walk to our hostel and 15 minute away to the Grand Place. We took a train from Liege Train Station to this train station for 12.60 euro, took around 1 hour.

This is more my type of city. Tall modern buildings!!! Its the WTC building btw. We didn't manage to visit the EU Headquarter building though.

What is Brussel famous for? Belgium Chocolates of course!

Here are the photos of the Grand Place by day and by night. The architectures are especially stunning at night. The lights illuminated the buildings and the tiny details can all be seen clearly.

With gigantic smurf at the entrance of the Comic museum. There were loads of different Tin Tin and Smurf figurines. Took lots of photos!!

These actions are what I felt like doing sometimes.

Smurfy!! I bought this Smurf home for 8.50 euro! Its so cute hor. I had never had any special liking for soft toys but somehow this smurf is so adorable. =p

I love this street. So many nice restaurants, but we heard they are out to make 'con' tourist money so we didn't patronise any of them.

My goodness - such pretty display of seafood. How inviting!!

These cakes looked so tempting but the price is not cheap! And so we didn't get to eat it.

Okay, now lets look at what I actually have sank my teeth into.

Even this cold pasta bought from the supermarket is nice.

Vol au Vent. The name of this dish refers to a small hollow case of pastry puff (the one you see peeping out)Underneath the thick mushroom cream sauce is a mix of chicken and fish.

6 piece chicken wings with fries and coleslaw

What you see is exactly what you get. I love Brussel!

Brussel Waffles are rectangular. It cripsy outside yet light and fluffy inside.

Liege Waffles are round. Only tourists will put toppings like chocolates and strawberries on them! lol

A pot full of yummlicious mussels. I'm craving for it right now!

The yummy fries that came with each pot of mussels. We had 3 pots in case you're wondering.

Mussels in White Wine Sauce.

Mussels in Tomato and Onion Sauce.

Our Brussels Airline flight back to Oslo. It has been a long while since I see this kind of connecting bridge! We usually walk up and down the plane the 'VIP style' - up the stairs.
